Companies House itself provides information on over 1.7 million registered companies. Information available includes company reports, document images, company directors' details, dissolved companies and disqualified directors. The costs and options vary enormously.

Hoovers is good for general company data and if you click through Business Links/UK you will find a listing of 20 or more links in a Yahoo type format. Basic information is free of charge. More detailed information requires a subscription.

Two sites with much valuable information about pensions and several calculators and comparison tables to help you. Other parts of the sites give good information on mortgages, life & health insurance.
